We finally got a vacation!

we finally got a vacation! We have been so excited to go visit my grandparents in Logandale, Nevada it has been over 8 months since we were last there and we love going to their house! One of our favorite things is sitting up late listening to grandpa's war stories and growing up in Beaver, Utah.

We had planned on leaving Reno much earlier in the day but we realized that the spare tire for the Suburban was currently on the Avalanche, awaiting the new rims that had yet to be received by UPS. Anyway if you have read my blog earlier you would know that we have recently learned a valuable lesson, that is WE NO LONGER GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT A SPARE! So we had to get that all figured out before we left.

The drive down seemed to go really, really fast! The kids slept most of the way making it for a very quiet drive. Most of the time I would much rather fly than drive the 8 hours in the car, but I actually have grown to love our 8 hour drives to Las Vegas because that is the time that I can trap my husband and he has to listen to me for 8 hours straight. We have had some very funny, weird, productive and memorable conversations during our many trips to Las Vegas and this one wasn't any different.

We finally arrived in Logandale to my grandparent's house at 4 a.m. Grandma was up and waiting for us. (she actually was up with Uncle Rodger). After getting settled and taking some time to get the kids settled down and back to bed, we finally went to sleep about 4:30 a.m.

Oni woke up at 7 a.m. and I didn't want her to wake the other kids up so I decided to get up also and we went in the other family room to visit with Grandma and Grandpa. My Aunt Lori came over shortly there after to say "hi". Later that afternoon, Jaidyn was getting pretty bored so we took her downtown to get her a few craft projects to keep her busy for a few days. When we went downtown, it was sooooo hot (110)!!! We decided to go to Inside Scoop, a local ice cream parlor with great tasting sandwiches. After lunch we went to Lin's (the only grocery store in town) and loaded up on a few items for our stay.

Then Jaidyn's cousins came over to play, Jaidyn was in heaven with all of her cousins. She looks forward to seeing them so much every time we go down.

It has been so very hot today, and we spent most of the time inside in air conditioning so it wasn't too bad. I really can't see how anyone can live here though, so glad we moved to Reno!
