Domestication

Image
So what have I been up to? Well besides chasing 4 kids around all day, doing my homestudy courses for school, trying not to lose my sanity from a crazy almost 3 year old who can't sit still and tries every thing possible to have my complete attention 24 hours a day, I've taken up domestication! Yep, John bought me a Pressure Canner for Christmas and we inherited an awesome dehydrator from his dad. So I decided that I probably better give them a try. Last weekend I spent the day canning, and dehydrating. It has been so much FUN! Dehydrating Orange slices and my finished product of dehydrated red onions, green onions, oranges and lemon slices. I pressure cooked some cans of Turkey hamburger and chicken breasts and thighs, (I didn't take a picture of these, because although they are going to be so useful for my food storage, they sure are not that pretty to look at, in fact they border on looking like a science project. So I thought I would spare you the visuals. Then toda...

The Tricky LIttle Leprechaun

Image
Last night Grandma and Grandpa were on their way home and what did they see at the park? A Leprechaun, of course! Grandpa said he pulled over and asked him where he was going, and he gave Grandpa some 4 leaf clover shaped sugar cookies to give to Jaidyn and the kids. Grandpa said told him that if he went down around the corner about 2 blocks then there was a big surprise for him! (leading him to Jaidyn's house). So needless to say Jaidyn was so excited, she said "I'm really lucky because the Leprechaun already knows where to go to my house." Jaidyn woke up really early this morning (7 a.m.) ready to see if her Leprechaun trap worked. We walked outside and there was a trail of leprechaun green glitter going from down the street, around the corner and then to our house. It looked as if the Leprechaun tried to make it to our backyard but the dogs probably scared him away and then he ran up our walkway right to the trap! But darn it! Mom, messed it up! I put a rock...

A PERFECT DAY TO CATCH A LEPRECHAUN

Image
Today was St. Patrick's Day, "A PERFECT DAY TO CATCH A LEPRECHAUN" all the perfect conditions were there, Jaidyn's been studying all about catching them and she said it has to be overcast in order to catch them, as it was today. She has been spending the past few weeks learning Irish, so that when she catches her little Leprechaun friend/pet she can communicate with him. She has already mastered a few basic words and said that when she catches him she's going to keep him in her room and take care of him. Along with learning Irish and all the other things that go along with owning a Leprechaun, she has been studying the best kind of traps to make. Here's what her's ended up like. The technique is quite creative. The Leprechaun sees the green walkway and begins his journey up the walkway to the yellow ladder, (if you look real close you can see that the words "Gold" is written on the box, just to fool him a little). Then he climbs the ladder, ...

Tap dancing makes you happy!!!

Our Suburban is equipped with Sirius Radio. Usually we drive around town with the Disney station for the kids or my personal favorite Coffeehouse. But for the past week we have had it set at channel 4 which is the 1940's station. The kids have really enjoyed this. Especially Jaidyn. Every morning on the way to school you may pass us while we're blasting the old Big band music and rocking out to it! This evening we were coming home from Grandma's and Grandpa's and Jaidyn said "mom can you turn on that 1800's music again". I said "do you mean the 40's station?" "yes". So with "fever" playing in the background Jaidyn said "mom, I would have loved to have lived back then. It would have been so fun" I said " and why would you say that?" She said "because everyone was so happy and fun!" I said "well how do you know that?" "Because I can tell from the songs and the thing th...
