Finally! A full night's sleep zzzzzzz..........

So Luis has now found a way to climb the crib and get out. Our first thoughts were "oh, great! Now we'll never get sleep and neither will any of the kids". Every morning for the past week this is how it has been. At about 6:30 a.m., we hear little feet running down the hallway, then a cute little voice doesn't whisper but yells "mom" (in a tone that's like mom, I did it, I climbed out of my crib, here I am, bet you can't get me) then he runs off back down the hall to his room, which he shares with Luhanie and begins opening and slamming his door shut, until we were forced to get out of bed. By this time the entire household is up.

So not really knowing what to do I came across a few ideas, maybe some of these will help those of you who are having the same problems as well.

The first thing I came across was these: The Little Big Foot Sleeping Bag

No more climbing out of the crib:

The greatest thing about the sleeping bag and toddlers, is that it prevents them from climbing out of the crib. It will also prevent their legs from getting stuck in the railings. You can use the baby sleeping bag until your toddler is potty trained and ready to move to a junior bed.

Then I came across the Crib Tent:

This is the one we opted for. Being unable to wait one more night I went to Babys R US in hopes that they might have one. I was in luck, they did it was a little pricey but at this point, a good nights sleep is priceless and I would be willing to pay just about anything.

We got it home, and installed it, it was very easy to install and then the fun part came, letting Luis have his try at it. He absolutely hated it at first, I think his real reaction was "crap, they've got me caged in, but never fear I'll find my way out of here some how." He tried and tried, but had no luck. Jaidyn thought it looked fun so she climbed in the crib with him and they took their turns bouncing off the side of the fabric mesh walls, laughing and have a great time.

So last night was Luis' first time in the new crib tent bed! It was so awesome. He woke up in a wonderful mood, (quite possibly because he had plenty of sleep, finally or maybe it was just because we got plenty of sleep and we weren't as edgy) either way, it was definitely a life saver, and I don't have to worry about him getting hurt climbing out of bed. Putting him in a big boy bed was definitely out the question, so who ever invented the crib tent, we say "thank you, thank you, thank you"!!

There was a family in our ward who had a set of twins that could get out of ANYTHING!!! Their cribs were in the middle of the room because they would peel wallpaper, destroy curtains, or whatever they could get ahold of. One of them picked apart the crib mattress and left balls of stuffing all over the floor. They even figured out (after having something placed over the top) how to get out of the crib by lifting the mattress up and climbing out the bottom!!!! I've never heard/seen anything like them!

The Corbanator was 18mos! Talk about putting the fear of God in any parent! Glad you found a fix!

Julie,
wow! now that's determination! Luckily Luis isn't that out of control. The great thing about the Crib tent is that it goes underneath the mattress and up the sides of the crib as well so that he can't pull toys in our out of the crib, which was another problem we were having.

I had to pull my boys cribs away from the wall and window as well. They destroy everything. They haven't discovered how to climb out of the crib yet (thank goodness), but they will not keep their crib sheets on their mattress. They take them off every night. I am glad your family is sleeping good!
