My not so Good Friday
It started out just like a normal day, I woke up feeling great! It's Friday and to make it even better it's "good Friday!" The Social Worker called me this morning and said that the kid's mom and dad had some easter presents to give them and were wondering if they could have a visit with Luis and Luhani as well today, instead of just Lana. I agreed and said that would be fine, besides it would give me 2 hours with Jaidyn (she's off track right now). So I began getting the kids ready, feeding, bathing and dressing them. Then as I was getting Luis out of the tub it started, I got this horrible pain in my upper back, and rib area. I thought I had possibly pulled something or while I was working out the other day may have pulled a muscle some how. I continued to get the kids ready and then went on our way. I picked up mom and dad and then went and dropped the kids off at Social Services. Off and on throughout the morning the pain would come in waves, then while at Lowe's (passing time), I was in so much pain I could barely drive. We got to Social Services to pick up the kids, mom and dad went upstairs to get them, we speedily loaded them up and I drove as fast as I could to St. Mary's Hospital. The 3 minutes it took to drive there seemed like an eternity, as my pain had increased so much, I felt like I was going to pass out. I ran up to the ER, checked in and 3 hours later I was laying in a hospital bed. I was pretty sure at this time it must be ANOTHER KIDNEY STONE! YIKES...but it felt much different then the ones I had before, it was higher up and MUCH more painful. As much as I tried to maintain my composure in the waiting room, I'm sure people were wondering what the heck was wrong with me, I kept pacing and walking outside in 40 degree weather, trying to cut the edge off the pain, and 2 hours was just wayyy too long to wait!! I finally went back and was put in a hospital bed, where I waited another hour until the doctor came in and said exactly what I already knew, "Mrs. MacDonald, you more than likely have a kidney stone. Another half hour later the nurse shows up with an IV and some drugs (YEAH for DRUGS!! :) and I was on my way to peace and comfort. An XRAY and CT were done and YEP I had a 3mm kidney stone working it's way down. Through the course of conversation and a catheter, I found out that my nurse was LDS. I told her "if you ever see me at church functions or at the temple, please don't remember me!" It was so embarrassing to think that she was all up in my business and that I more than likely might actually run into her again. I know, they say it's part of business, but I'm just not cool with that. So after 7 hours in the ER, I was finally released home with a prescription for some meds. Unfortunately, the Pharmacy's were closed and I am now stuck with no meds to get me through the night. I'm just hoping that I can make it through okay until tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Wish me luck! So as it turns out my GOOD Friday wasn't so good after all, but I was so thankfull that mom and dad were there. They helped out with the kids and took care of the things that needed to be done at home, so John could be at my side the entire time. It's definitely not how I wanted to spend my Friday or any day for that matter. But I am so thankful for such a loving and supportive family, who are there for me always. Thanks so much John for not leaving my side and especially for the Priesthood blessing it helped so much! And thanks mom and dad for your love and support and for always being there for me when I need you most.
