John gets arrested and Jaidyn succeeds in Hollywood

We started off the day with rushing around, running our last errands and packing our last items. It always seems like no matter how hard I try to be completely organized and ready for trips, just minutes before I'm running like crazy trying to grab the last items and hoping I"m not forgetting anything.

Jaidyn had been saving her money for some months and had a very large tin can full of change, so we made a quick stop to the local credit union to cash in her coins, using their coin sorting machine. But to no avail, the machine was broke and after some coaxing from mom, we were able to talk the tellers into hand counting the money for her and giving her cash back. One of the tellers was not too happy about the fact that she had to hand count coins (mostly pennies), although with her apparent math background I wouldn't want to count that much change either. She kept having to recount and then finally got really upset and asked J and I to move to the other side of the room while she counted the money, apparently we were making her too nervous! (So what is she doing working at a bank?) Jaidyn managed to save quite a bit and ended up with over $50.00.

The inept teller ended up taking more time then expected to count Jaidyn's change and so we raced to the airport hoping we could make the flight on time. Check in was fairly painless, that was until John's backpack passed through the xray. His bag was stopped and security was called, we were hauled off to the side (where all the bad people go) and the police were notified. I wasn't sure what was going on, and I kept asking him "what did you have in your backpack?" The security officer placed surgical gloves on his hand and reached into the side pockets and pulled out 12 nicely new bullets! John, what the heck were you thinking? He had taken his backpack practice shooting a few months back and forgot they were in there! The police came checked his background and confirmed that he had a CCW. He luckily got off with a warning and was told that if it happened again he could get fined up to $10,000.00.

Luckily United Airlines held the plane for us, and we made it on the plane just a few minutes late. All eyes were on us as we entered the plane and all the passengers gave us the stink eye.

Jaidyn was so excited to go on the plane, she really enjoyed it (even though she's been on planes before she didn't quite remember them). She was amazed at the clouds and mountains and how small everything looked, it was funny to watch her and how excited she was.

We arrived in San Francisco for an hour layover and then we flew on to Burbank where we rented a car and began driving to Hollywood.

When we got to Hollywood, it happened to be the premiere night for Xmen, the streets were lined with people. Jaidyn had constructed this awesome Autograph book, just for Hollywood, and it turned out to come in handy. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were there and Jaidyn was able to get their autographs!

We left Hollywood and drove to La Jolla to our hotel. We stayed at the Hyatt (what a great hotel). They ended up giving us the 15th floor (which is a private floor), we had beautiful views of the city. We ate at Flemings, their food was soooo delic! And then off to bed for a big day tomorrow.
