A day snow bunnies and canning
Last night John was working on our side gate (yes, I know it was snowing) but he's a Stud! We have had baby bunnies and rabbits running through our yard all winter and they are now eating all of my lettuce we just planted. Every morning at 7:30 am the mother bunny enters our backyard in enough view for our Bassetts to see him and well, that's my morning wake-up call! The howling begins, the mother bunny has learned that there's no way that Daisy and Zoey can get to her so she just hops around tormenting them, eating clover in our grass and enjoying a yard full of lush geenery. Then she heads over to the cutting garden area looking for different treats and off to the vegetable garden to see what new flavors are available. We found out there is an entire bunny family living in some bricks on the side of our house and they occassionally relocate to under our barbecue grill where there's a nice soft apron to cuddle up to. So we decided it was time to fix the side gate, which has been held up by a 4x4 since just before winter. We took down the side fence while we were building our garden beds and then winter came so fast John was unable to fix it, so he leaned it on a 4x4, and that's when all the critters came. The weather has been much nicer lately, well excluding Tuesday and so Monday night he began fixing the gate in nice beautiful 70 degree weather, then Tuesday came! and it snowed all afternoon. Normally he would have probably held off until the weather got better but a NASTY little letter we received in the mail (from the HOA giving him 10 days to fix the fence) encouraged him to finish it up. So there he was outside in the snow fixing the fence.
John after working in the yard and still smiling! Actually I caught this picture after I was annoying him with my metal spoon musical, at least I got him to smile and it's a real one! Not the Johnny half smile we are all so use to!!
While he was out in the cold, I decided it would be a great time to do some more canning!
Am I addicted? Possibly....
So I whipped up a batch of Ambrosia Conserve (not sure what I'll use this one but it's really yummy and I had a pineapple I needed to use up), and some cooked ground turkey.
Want the recipes, you say? I've posted them here
