Meet our new little Addition!
Today we were told that we could go pick up our new little addition.
Meet Lana (pronounced Laina) she was born the day after my birthday on November 12th weighing 7 pounds 6 oz and is the full sibling to Luis and Luhani.
I can't believe the resemblance of Lana to Luis. But she does have some traits of Luhani as well.
So with the crazy week that we had of course we had to have another weird and event filled day. We arrived at the hospital (my mom, me and the kids) at 9 a.m. as we were told to do. Upon arriving my mom and the kids waited in the NICU waiting area while I went in to see the baby. The NICU nurse walked me in and asked me to scrub up. I did and as I did I glanced over to where the baby was and there sat mom "Lana's mom". I was a bit shocked and I wasn't sure what was going on at this point. The Nurse said "oh my gosh come here quickly", we walked out to the hallway and tried to decide on what to do. The nurse told us to take the private elevator down to the 1st floor and wait in the cafeteria, then she would call us after Mom had left. We went down the elevator to exit on the 1st floor and when the door opened it was completely blocked off with "no trespassing tape and clear plastic. Jaidyn immediately freaked out, thinking that we were trapped in the elevator. We then went down to the lower level and exited the elevator. We weren't sure where to go from there and walked down the hallway, just then Lana's mom walked up behind us, very angry and said "what are you doing here?" I was on the phone trying to call social services and my mom said "we're just here visiting someone but we're leaving now". She looked at her two kids in the stroller (Luis and Luhani) and said "hi, guys" with no emotion (here it has been over 1 month since she has seen both of them and she wasn't even excited to see them at all), I didn't want to subject the kids to anymore so I started walking everyone down the opposite hallway. Jaidyn began crying and saying "mom, I'm scared", she really got worked up and then what do you know? Over the loud speaker the hospital announces to not be alarmed but we're going to be having fire drills. All Jaidyn heard was "fire" and she immediately began to panic. After some coaxing we calmed her down enough to talk to her reasonably. We were then met by the hospital's social worker who told us to go ahead and go home and they would call us when things had gotten figured out. Later I received a call to come pick up the baby at 3:30 p.m. John and I went together (just in case something went wrong again) and we filled out the proper paperwork and took little baby Lana home. When we got to the car Luis, Luhani, Jaidyn and my mom were all waiting in the car. Everyone was so excited to meet her. Luis especially, I have never seen him so excited. We drove home and he jumped out of the car, ran to the family room and sat down on the couch with his arms reaching out to hold her.
she is such a sweet little baby and has been very easy to take care of. Another bonus, she sleeps well too.
