So much NEW!
It has been quite a year for us so far! In June we moved to a house just 4 houses down from my mom and dad. We're loving our new neighborhood and the fact that there are kids all over the place. Jaidyn's 2 best friends just live around the corner and she's loving that too.
Luis, Luhani and Lana have been with us for 3 years now, it's been tough coming to the realization that although we love them so very much, we're not able to give them what they are going to need long term. In August after 1 year of waiting, a wonderful family in Kentucky has been identified as their adoptive family, and although this is going to be VERY hard for us, and we haven't officially met the family yet, we couldn't be happier with their backgrounds. It's going to be very difficult getting use to not having them around. I often get butterflies in my stomach when I think about how fast the day is approaching. If all proceeds as planned, they will meet their new family Mid-September and transition out of our home by the end of September. We have planned a fun trip over Labor Day weekend with the kids and are planning on taking lots of pictures, we also are planning a going away party for them so that their close friends, teachers and family can come.
Our move has seemed like it has taken forever, and we're still unpacking into the new place. We took the time to paint and get the new house feeling like home before we moved everything in. Although there has been lots of changes, this is definitely a new chapter in our lives and we're looking forward to the experiences ahead. Jaidyn has been growing up so fast, and I am so excited to be able to spend more time one on one with her, attend her school functions, go shopping with her and just be more available. It's hard to believe that she's 9 already, time sure has flown by. She's so much fun and loves to talk my ear off. I definitely don't want to miss out on the years ahead.
With all of these changes we have felt very blessed with so much. Even though John took a significant pay cut, he still has a job, which has been slowly picking up. We have learned how to live on a budget, cook on a budget and spend more time together. We have learned patience, the power of prayer and the blessings of paying tithing. We have grown closer together as a couple and as a family and appreciate every single minute we have together. We have become more simple in living, but amazingly more happier from living more simply.
With all of these new changes we have also started changing our diet habits. We have cut out red meat, pork and chicken and have began eating only fish, beans, rice and vegetables. The next big thing to tackle is sugar (this will be a hard one with my humongous sweet tooth), then maybe I'll tackle dairy (or not :) it's going to be hard to give up cheese. But we are aiming for fit and healthy. As soon as things calm down with the placement of the kids, it will be off to the gym daily, can't wait!
So change is a good thing, atleast in our case.
