Our Christmas Casa

Okay, so we are a little Christmas CRAZY at the MacDonald Farm!

We have had our Christmas Decorations up since Nov 1st. As soon as we took the Halloween decorations down, up went the Christmas ones.

I have to say that Christmas is definitely our favorite time of year, and I tend to get a little carried away with decorating every single room in the house. So here's a tour of our little Christmas Casa...

Welcome to our Christmas Casa

THE DINING ROOM/REINDEER ROOM

THE LIVING ROOM/SNOWMAN ROOM

THE FAMILY ROOM/BIRD ROOM

THE KITCHEN

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE KEEPSAKES WE BRING OUT EACH YEAR FOR CHRISTMAS

I love these snowmen, they remind me of my favorite sculpures "the willowtree". I picked them up one year in Overton, NV and they remind me of when my parents lived there and we would spend the holidays with them.

One of my VERY FAVORITE things is this little reindeer ornament. A close friend/neighbor of mine gave it to me one year for Christmas. She has since moved to Wyoming so it reminds me of our close friendship we had and still do. I miss having her next door, calling to borrow a stick of butter for a certain recipe that I hadn't particularly planned for and spending time with her 4 children as well as Jaidyn going to her home and spending an afternoon making crafts with their family. I really miss her. When we would have a bad day we could spend hours on the phone talking about it even though we just lived a few doors down from each other, we always had something to talk about and share.

Anyway, this little ornament started a new tradition for me, I became obsessed with kitchen themed ornaments, although the reindeer is definitely my favorite, I have added a mother Goose and a very plump chicken to go along with my kitchen themed tree.

This wooden angel was something we acquired after visiting Apple Hill, (which my family loves to do in the fall time), I love how rustic she is and it reminds me of our many trips to Apple Hill together as family, the fun times we've had together and the simpler more country life that John and I hope to have one day.

This Ornament is very special to me! One particular year we had a family reunion where the entire family was present (this doesn't happen very often). So as a family craft we took these clear ornaments and each family member signed it. This one even has our dear little Rodgey's signature on, so it has become that much more special and precious to me.

In our Family Room we have a bird tree I just can't resist these little bird ornaments they remind me so much of my Grandma Waters, who has had pretty much everything from Canaries to Peacocks, she even had some sweet little doves. Every time I see this tree I think of her. I look forward to seeing her and Grandpa Waters at Christmas time.

FAMILY TRADITIONS:

We have a few traditions that we've started one is to buy an ornament from either a place that we have visited as a family that year or buy a personalized ornament to signify something of importance for that year. Last year we purchased the snowman ornament with our new additions added on to our family, Luis, Luhani, Louie and Ronda (mom and dad). Luis and Luhani our new foster children and Louie and Ronda, my parents who finally moved to our town and were living with us for a short time until they got settled.

The other ornament was the moose on ski's. This was to signify our first year attempting to ski. We all got our own ski equipment that year and hit the slopes. Jaidyn did wonderfully, took some lessons and was a natural pro at it. John of course, being the fearless devil that he is enjoyed going as fast as he could and attempting the most ferocious slopes, not to be out done by the competition and myself? Well, I'd rather not talk about it. I'm pretty much scarred for life at this point.

The basket of books (the kid's favorite) is something we add to each year, we purchase a Christmas story to add to our collection. Each year we pack them away until Christmas and the bring them out during the holidays, we spend the month of December reading Christmas stories and the kids (especially Jaidyn) just can't get enough of it.

So there you have it, our Christmas Casa. We absolutely LOVE Christmas and the spirit that it brings into our home and remember Mi Casa, Es Su Casa (my home is your home), what better way to spend the holidays then with tons of friends and family!

Scarred for life - listen to you! I have never known you to let fear stand in your way - you are the most fearless person I know. The part that really sucks is that I know when you decide you want to ski, you'll be better at it than me!!

it's really too bad that you don't get into the christmas spirit at all. Your poor kids will hardly know it's even coming with those paltry decorations...

You put me to shame! I'm just happy to get the tree up and a few little side things out.
