Luis' 3rd birthday Celebration!
Luis turned 3 today! He woke up this morning bright eye'd and the first things out of his mouth was "mom, Happy Cake?" We have been telling him for a week now that his birthday was coming up and he was going to get happy birthday cake just like Nan (Jaidyn) did. So now he calls all birthday cake "happy Cake" of course. I assured him that he would get some Happy Cake today and I reminded him that he's now 3 years old today. Luis said "yeah, Oni's two". What a smart little guy, she's not actually two yet, that one's next week but he amazes me with his little memory!
We spent the morning getting ready to go for a planned birthday party with his birth mom and dad. Then Ashley (the Social Worker) called us at about 9 am to let us know that his birth mom had called to cancel. I couldn't believe that she would actually cancel on Luis' birthday! I was so mad! So Luis and I decided that we were going to have a Luis Day! We packed up the Suburban and headed to Truckee, along with Luhani, Lana and Grandma Ronda to pick up Jaidyn, she was staying with her Grandma and Grandpa Gaston. When we got there it was quite hot and the kids were wrestless so after a nice cold popsicle, Grandpa Jim pulled out a few large buckets, filled them with water and began spraying the kids with the hose, they had so much fun. Luis loved it and was soaked to the bone. Afterwards we stopped at Toy's R Us and spent about 2 hours there while Luis decided on what he liked. Grandma and Grandpa Chambers bought him an Elmo coloring book (which he picked out) and some superhero action figures. After Toys R Us we went home to pick up daddy and drive to Fuddruckers where Luis enjoyed a big juicy hamburger (his favorite) and a humongous ice cream sundae, he opened presents. He got a remote control truck but one of his favorites was the Incredible Hulk punch gloves, he would pull the funniest faces when he wore them. After dinner we played Frizbee in the parking lot, Luis didn't want to go and every time I said come on it's time "he'd say wait mom!" and start strutting through the parking lot, I think he really feels like he's a big boy now. He's growing up so fast, what a blessing it is to be able to watch him grow. I feel so sad for his birth mom and dad who are missing out on so much of him.
