To my Valentine!

I can't imagine my life with out my best friend. You have been my stalwart through many a storms, but having you by my side I have always known that there wasn't anything we couldn't accomplish or work through. You have such an amazing way with people and truly care for everyone.

So many things could have happened to have kept us from meeting on March 3rd, 1991, a warm evening in Las Vegas, at Tower Records. Although you are much more better with remember the specifics, I do remember you patiently waiting for me in your sleek silver sportscar and catching my attention as I passed by with the comment of "haven't I met you before?" You were pretty slick with your denium pegged jeans (child of the 80's) and black t'shirt. But the thing that really caught my attention was your beautiful brown eye's that have such a kindness to them, your statute was also something I remember, you were so tall to me never had I met someone who was so tall and handsome, and oh, how I loved your black thick head of hair! I do remember going home that night and thinking I really hope that you would call me soon. It took more than 2 weeks for you to call. Our first date was so YOU! Trying to impress my parents and try to make them think that you really were a good boy! You went to have your hair lightened, thinking that the black hair was just too harsh, what a mistake that was! The bleach did not take and your hair ended up turing a carrot top orange! To top it off you showed up at my door in a crazy denium patchwork shirt! (one I will always treasure) Mom was taken back a little, I have had my share of unusual dates and being the concerned mom that she is, she walked right past you through the front door and out to the curb, where she met your car and immediately wrote down your license plate, (just in case her little girl came up missing). After introducing you to my parents we went off for our first date. In your own style and fashion (in order to make a point) you took me to Tokyo (a Japanese Resturant in LV), we ate sushi and you ordered a Saporo (just to prove that you wouldn't be mormon any time soon) funny how things work out.

Now 16 years later, here we are with 1 beautiful daughter, who's just as funny and unpredictable as her daddy! You and Jaidyn are my life! I love you both so much and can't imagine how different life would have been if our paths would not have crossed that fateful night. In all rights we really shouldn't have met, you were planning on moving to Oregon soon, and I was just in Las Vegas temporarily, and didn't usually give out my phone number to the first guy I met. But even then I knew you were the one for me! I am so thankful for you, for the support, love and friendship that you give me. I enjoy my days when you are with me, I look forward to the weekends that we can spend together and I'm so lucky to have you a part of my life! I love the song "lucky" I've added it to my playlist, because this song was written for us!

Lucky by Jason Mraz
Do you hear me,
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky oh my, baby I'm trying
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Oooohhhhoohhhhohhooohhooohhooohoooh

They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you, I will

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music, feel the air
I'll put a flower in your hair
Though the breezes through trees
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooooh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

I love you so very much!

Your Wife D
